After many years of painstaking investigative research, scientists and neuro researchers may tell us how things work, but it is sometimes only ‘experts by experience’ who can add practical relevance and clarity to some of the findings.
A lived experience perspective often means much time is spent seeking causes and solutions to difficulties with one’s mental health and so whilst some learning is deeply rooted in research findings, Learn Mental services are delivered from the opposite juncture in that they are also based on knowledge and awareness gained through practical day to day experiences.
There is also plenty of general evidence in the form of research studies to suggest that ‘lived experience’ learning is a powerful tool in the march towards creating greater understanding in terms of working towards maintaining mental wellness.
